Afternoon Talmud Torah Network
The “Shivat Zion Talmud Torah Network was established in 2019 in honor of the soldier Oded Ben Sira who was killed in Operation “Tzuk Eitan” as part of the IDF’s Nahal Brigade activity in Gaza.
We aim to make Torah learning exciting and captivating for children. the professional teaching staff creates a fun and engaging atmosphere that brings joy to the children. This form of education helps in the overall development of the children, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. They can also share what they learn with their families and communities. as of today, the project has expanded to 30 locations, offering 181 classes and educating 2,000 children.
- Connecting the children to the Torah by learning out of joy.
- Learning Chumash, Mishna, Gemara, Halacha in a way that corresponds to the ages of the students in each age group.
- Creating an identification with the heroes of the Bible, the Ta’na’eem and our sages throughout the times, while understanding that the Torah is a way of Life and not just a story.
- Weekly activity– study sessions in localities that are held 1-5 times a week by teachers who consider learning to be of great importance.
- Monthly activity– once a month there is a diverse and enriching activity, such as: leadership and values workshops, outdoor activity such as camping, cooking, etc.
- Peak events– 3-day trips following biblical heroes take place throughout the year with the aim of creating a real and live connection between the children, the Torah and the Land of Israel. In preparation for the trips, the groups carefully study the chapters related to the heroes and locations where the trip takes place.
In addition, during the trip, in-depth experiential learning and enriching stories about the place and the character are added.
- Staff support– the teachers are personally and continuously accompanied by regional coordinators, and there are staff meetings once a quarter that include joint study and peer discussion.
